Working Days Calculator

Calendar days and working days look the same on the surface but feel very different in real life.

About this calculator

Calendar days and working days look the same on the surface but feel very different in real life. A 'one month' deadline that means 30 calendar days is actually only 20-22 working days after subtracting weekends, and even fewer once you account for public holidays, leave days and Friday-evening drop-offs. This calculator gives you the precise count for any date range, with full control over which days count as work and which holidays apply.

By default, only Monday through Friday count as working days, with Saturday and Sunday treated as weekends. Toggle the includeSaturday flag for India's common 6-day work week (or for retail and hospitality), and toggle includeSunday for emergency-services or healthcare workflows where Sunday is a normal shift day. Add your specific holiday list, one per line in YYYY-MM-DD format -- public holidays, regional holidays (Pongal, Onam, Bihu, Eid) and company holidays all subtract correctly.

This is the first tool to reach for when planning project timelines, calculating leave balances, sizing a work-from-home request, comparing job offers (75 working days off vs 30 calendar days off is a real difference), or estimating contract billing in business days. Pair this with the [[countdown]] calculator for tracking a single deadline, the [[date-difference]] calculator for general date arithmetic, and the [[age]] calculator for life-cycle dates. For project planning across many task durations the [[time]] calculator is also useful.
